Universal Soldier: The Return DVD

The heroic former Universal Soldier, Luc Deveraux (Van Damme), is once again thrown into action when the supercomputer-controlled ultra-warrior Seth (Jai White) decides to take revenge and destroy its creators. Only Luc can stop it. As he battles Seth and a deadly team of perfect soldiers, the struggle pits man against machine and good against evil. Universal Soldier Luc Deveraux is back in this action-packed roller-coaster ride, as Jean-Claude Van Damme attempts to resurrect interest in his career. Set in the not-too-distant future, Deveraux oversees the new UniSol project, which aims to turn dead soldiers into invincible fighting machines. The government replicates the project, hoping to control the soldiers through a supercomputer named SETH. However, the computer comes to the conclusion that it's superior to humans and must destroy them. Van Damme heroically leaps into action to confront the dangerous soldiers, led by Bill Goldberg and Michael Jai White. The action is impressive and the stunts are engrossing, with Goldberg charismatic as the villain. However, the movie is missing the gloss and big-budget pathos of its predecessor, making the original decidedly better. It's an action-packed thrill ride that showcases Van Damme at his best.
